MOA and B Photography bio picture
  • What goes on around here?!

This is the place where we get to share our photography portfolio with you as well as talk about all the other things in life that get our blood pumping!

We'll chat about recipe successes (and flops - why not?!), restaurant reviews, and farmer’s market reports. When we have an amazing cocktail or a meal so good we dream about it, you’ll be the first to know! We’re huge fans of ‘user reviews’ when shopping and want to pay that forward, so you’ll also find raves or rants over our most recent purchases – whether they be for the kitchen, home, or our closets.

A lot of our free time is spent tackling how to live in a small space so you’ll see the DIY solutions we’ve come up with, spaces that inspire our housing daydreams, and our efforts at making Pinterest boards come to life. On MOA MONDAYS, anything on Moa’s mind is fair game!

So there you have it, all our loves in one place – photography, food, travel, and making any space a home! Get to know us better at Meet MOAandB. CHEERS!

FOOD :: Restaurant Review – CHINA POBLANO – Las Vegas, NV

I mentioned we went to Vegas for the 4th of July…. we’d be guilty if we did not admit it was partly for the food (as is always the case with our Vegas escapades). I don’t even know if I can fully put into words the craving we’ve been nursing for the last seven months for CHINA POBLANO, (where their tagline is Noodles & Tacos – intrigued?!). Say it with me: CHEEE-NAH PO-BLAAA-NOO (fun, right?!). Something else super fun about this place – the décor; it’s quirky, constantly rotating (thanks to numerous projectors), and it’s sure to spark a few minutes (if not more) of conversation (until the food comes…)!

We had our first dining adventure with some of my girlfriends back in January and haven’t been able to find anything close to their menu anywhere in SoCal. Obviously, we needed to get back – STAT.

Shopping :: Jewelry Review – Kendra Scott

I am a new fan of Kendra Scott. Perhaps you saw my Facebook post or tweet regarding a pretty sizeable sale they were having a few weeks ago (30% off of the pieces they had selected/ curated for Style Me Pretty). When it comes to jewelry, I am most definitely a creature of habit; same rings, same bracelets, same watch – every day no matter the occasion. Basically, my daily earring selection is the only way I’m able to mix things up without having an OCD induced panic attack (and I haven’t quite found my groove with necklaces, especially since I’m a huge fan of scarves – so many dilemmas, I know).

MOA MONDAYS :: Words To Live By

Friends, it’s a new month. It’s summer. It’s hot (and apparently, depending on where you are it’s REALLY hot). I am always excited by the prospect of a new month, a new start, a mini-New-Years if you will. Like clockwork, you’ll find me being the healthiest of the healthy come the first of the month (sometimes I make it a whole month, sometimes a week). Speaking of being healthy (that means working hard in the gym and even harder in the kitchen, right?!) I came across an Ava Gardner quote last night that I had not seen in quite a few years and it resonated with me on a level it had not hit before:

“When I’m old and gray, I want to have a house by the sea. And paint. With a lot of wonderful chums, good music, and booze around. And a damn good kitchen to cook in.”

Adventures :: San Diego County Fair – Del Mar, CA

We allotted ourselves two hours to spend at the fair this week. Why so brief? For one, we can only allow so much time off from being adults, especially during the week, and two, it was Two Dollar Tuesday at the San Diego County Fair. Basically, that means you can walk up to any participating food vendor and ask for the ‘Taste of the Fair’ and for handing over two dolla dolla bills (or one two dollar bill if that’s your style) you’ll be given a small treat with about as many calories as three people need to survive for one day. Our lot consisted of: a cinnamon roll, a slice of pizza, an entire potato spiraled on a stick, a bacon wrapped corndog, chocolate drizzled cheesecake, a crispy chicken tender, a buffalo chicken slider with fries, a chocolate vanilla swirled ice cream cone, funnel cake, fried artichokes, and a chocolate cream puff. Whew, I just went into a food coma typing that.

Adventures :: Surf Dog Competition – Imperial Beach, CA

Words we don’t typically see together: ‘Surf’… ‘Dog’… ‘Competition’. Yup, all of those words on the same line kept popping up on twitter, newspapers, and Facebook so we absolutely had to go and see if dogs could surf, and if they could, which canine could shred the hardest (obviously).

Actually, we have seen all of those words together before as we briefly remembered hearing about it last year and then kicking ourselves when we realized it had passed. We made a point not to let the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition (that kept sending me into a fit of giggles every time I read about it) pass us by!

Married :: Françoise and Askia – Freehold, NJ

Last week we had the honor of photographing the wedding of Françoise and Askia, two incredibly sweet and accomplished individuals. We raved about their rehearsal dinner a few days ago and now we find ourselves salivating over their wedding day as we are sorting and editing. While we are putting their album together, we wanted to share some moments that have left our tongues wagging and a few that have left me (momentarily) speechless.

Françoise, you are such a stunning woman and Askia, I don’t think you could have been any more dapper on your wedding day! Your family and friends were the absolute best (we wouldn’t mind celebrating with y’all once a year should you choose to go the ‘wedding day reunion’ route!). Cheers to you two!

Rehearsal Dinner :: Françoise and Askia – A Little Bit of Cuba Dos

If there were a hashtag for the day it would most certainly be #HappyTummies! Not that this post is remotely about us in any shape or form but it would kill me not to mention the sweet (literally) and kind act from Françoise and Askia on the morning of THEIR rehearsal dinner.

So I’ll get to the point: they essentially brought us breakfast in bed. There was a cute white box hanging on our door, all tied up with red and white string with a quick heartfelt note explaining that they didn’t want to wake us and to enjoy the day as well as the contents of the box. Inside, we found the most delicate chocolate and strawberry pastries. If I could handle that amount of calories each morning (without rigorous exercise), I would die a happy woman – seriously, they were that good. (We are incredibly thankful for you two and your genuine attentiveness for us throughout YOUR weekend!)

MOAandB :: Sarah’s Bridal Shower Weekend – Indianapolis, IN

Confession: I’m a doodler – always have been, always will be. There have been times throughout my educational career that I had to implement a ‘no doodle’ policy whilst taking notes in certain courses, solely because if my notes were ever seen by a peer or professor my cheeks would turn quite red. Here we are in present day and B’s lists on Post-it notes around the computer tempt me mercilessly to jazz them up with an exaggerated cursive ‘M’ or succinct pattern, but I resist (most of the time).

So imagine my excitement when my sister-in-law asked me to fulfill my matron-of-honor duties with bridal party planning! It didn’t take much to convince her to let me design the invitations (score!). She put me in touch with her friends and mom and long story short, she gave both sides free reign of choosing a theme, etc. for the celebrations!

KISS Books :: We Heart KISS!

We find ourselves randomly saying, “We heart KISS!” and then getting a few strange looks. So today, we explain our nonsense. What is KISS and who is all of the love for?!

Our book company.

We love them – with all of our heart. We feel lucky to have offered their impeccable work from day one and we won’t stop – na na, na na, na na na, nana! Yea, it’s so good working with them it makes us bust out some old school Will Smith!

Shopping :: Shoe Review – TOMS

It only took about a year and a half but I finally ordered a pair of TOMS (and a last minute addition to the cart of strappy black heels with a cute and classic bow at the toe). Thanks Nordstrom, you finally got MOA to make an impulse purchase. Bravo.

The TOMS immediately made sense to me once they were comforting my feet with friendly hugs. As I paced back and forth, I started to feel a little foolish that my go-to city footwear has been (and let’s be honest, in this order): Uggs, flip flops, and wingtips/ fun colored oxfords if I’m feeling fancy.

These will be a nice addition to mix things up a bit (and I can see them quickly moving up in the ranks of my go-to footwear).

MOAandB :: Color Inspiration – Safari Park

I need to address something that’s pretty important and special to our virtual space. For those of you that have kept up with us you probably noticed that we have added a few more colors to our pallette and pumped up our logo a bit to more accurately reflect what it is we are doing over here.

It’s important to me to note that adding additional colors to our mainstays of pale blue, green, and gray surprisingly became emotional. Those particular colors were our wedding colors – they graced every paper good imaginable, B’s attire, and even our cake was bathed in pale green (and of course pearls). In fact, if I glance around the house, our main living space is pale blue, the bedroom pale green with gray bedding, and even our iPad covers are blue and green.

MOA MONDAYS :: An April To-Do-List

Today started with coffee (as it should). A big white cup filled with hot coffee, no fancy extras, thank you. I sense this morning’s cup will quickly become two as the last few hours have been failed attempts to fall back asleep even though it was totally appropriate and socially acceptable to sleep in on a day off. Ugh.

That’s why it was a happy surprise to see B had carried up the new Pacific mag amidst the other paper mails that will soon find themselves in the recycle bin, no doubt.

MOAandB :: Welcome to MOAandB 2.0

We’re having so much fun watching MOAandB evolve into a place that allows us to share all of our interests while still being able to be behind the lens. It was only natural for our logo and brand to evolve too and we couldn’t be happier with the way things are shaping up around here!

Here’s our new lineup and a general breakdown of what you can expect from the new site:

We’re deeming the first day of the work week: MOA MONDAYS. It’s the perfect day to generate topical discussions, re-cap from the weekend adventures, and rattle on about silly things like youtube videos you need to see, what crazy event we checked out that turned out cool (or didn’t), etc. – pretty much whatever is on Moa’s mind is fair game.

Family :: Ashley, Kevin & Riley – INDIANA

Oh my goodness, I cannot wait to meet this cute child in person! B rocked out this session solo but I totally felt like I was there while sorting and editing through their images (so that counts, right?!).

I can only assume that this kid is going to grow up to be one cool little dude as his parents are pretty darn neat. In fact, I told them last year they could adopt me to help fulfill my dream of being raised on a farm. It appears they went another direction and had a cute kid of their own instead of me.

At any rate, I’m super excited to meet you, Riley, and I send my hugs to your sweet parents!
